Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Made Me FALL For Their Covers

Top Ten Tuesday #10

Happy Tuesday, book fam!

The high in Dallas today is 70 (for reference, yesterday was 95), and tonight I’ll be attending my first Stars game of the season, which means it’s FINALLY starting to feel like fall, y’all!Bring on the changing leaves, the rainy weather, and PSL everything because nothing encourages reading — for me at least — quite like fall weather!

So light some candles (just not THIS candle) and get in your comfy space for today’s autumnal-themed post!

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, today’s TTT post is devoted to the Top Ten Books that feature Fall Covers/Themes. Y’all know I’m trash for cover art posts, so adding that fall twist has me all swooning at my bookshelves…

I tried to sprinkle in a dash of variety, but here are my “Top Ten Books That Made Me FALL For Their Covers.”

1) Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Okay, so it’s not really a fall-themed book, but you guys know I’m crazy about this Pan retelling. And despite my shameless promotion of this beautiful story, you have to admit this cover seriously channels the season!

2) The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

Moreso for it’s contents than it’s cover, this book was one of the first ones I considered for this week’s topic. Outlining the history of Vlad the Impaler and his ties to Dracula, this detailed thriller is the perfect read for Halloween.

3) This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

Keeping with the Hallow-theme, this first installment of the highly praised “Monsters of Verity” duology seemed like a given. Whether it’s due to the book’s soul-stealing monster musician, dogged heroine (?), gritty setting, or simply it’s color scheme this book earned it’s place on this list.

4) An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

You guys have seen me — and most of the community — raving posting about this gorgeous book for weeks! From the cover to the characters (prince of the autumnlands, anyone?), everything about this book screams fall! If you haven’t checked out this fae-tastic story, do yourselves a favor and snag a copy!

5) The Bird and The Sword by Amy Harmon

This fall-esque cover is as intriguing as the story within its’ pages. Set in the world of Jeru, this lyrically written fantasy covers everything from prejudice to politics. It’s been one of my favorite reads of the year, and would be a prefect addition to any fall TBR.

6) The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore

Although she’s currently promoting Wild Beauty, ALM’s debut novel (a Romeo & Juliet retelling) is by far her most fall-centric work. Add a dash of feuding families, a dollop of magical realism, and a pinch of mysterious prose, and voilà: you’ve got a perfect recipe for a cozy fall afternoon!

7) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

I don’t know what it is about this series (and this book in particular) that makes me feel all the fall feels. Maybe it’s the whole “witchcraft and wizardry” thing. Maybe it’s the mystical creatures. Or maybe it’s the Butterbeer (read: it’s probably the Butterbeer). Either way, this magic calls to me every fall and I’m happy to oblige.

8) Golden Sun by Pierce Brown

Although it’s theme’s aren’t necessarily fall-oriented — given that this sci-fi novel takes place on Mars and all — the second installment of the Red Rising trilogy was a must for this week’s topic. Not only due to the cover art, but because the classes themselves channel fall: Reds and Golds.

9) The Hollow Girl by Hillary Monahan

This spooky tale of vengeance is giving me all the dark and sinister feels associated with the season. After Bethan and her friend are brutally assaulted, she takes it upon herself to save her friend’s life by reaping revenge on their attackers à la Mummy style. Hitting shelves today, this haunting tale is a must for the season!

10) Far From The Tree by Robin Benway

Leaves? Check. Fall colors? Check. This emotional read centers on 3 siblings finding one another later in life and is being compared to the sobfest formerly known as This Is Us. Like the show, this book is basking in positive reviews and will keep you grateful long past Thanksgiving.

Well, there you have it! The books on my shelf that give me serious Fall vibes! Did we share any titles? Which book are you dying to read this Fall? Look forward to your thoughts!

And, as always: Happy Reading!

I mean, I think I secretly try to make the HP series fit in every tag/list, but I mean c’mon it’s HP! I’d never heard of Dear F451 on your list! That sounds so interesting! Have you read it?
