#SundayShelfie — Check out my BRAND NEW shelves & series!

Happy Sunday, my fellow book nerds!

I hope you’re all enjoying the last bits of your weekend! Screen Shot 2018-08-12 at 7.24.12 PMI don’t know about y’all, but I was actually semi-productive over the past two days. I knocked out some chores, a few movies on my “to be watched” list, and attended a 90s-themed birthday/costume party for my sister-in-law and her best friend. Aren’t they adorable in their game show wear? Beyond that, I also read a little and worked on some blog posts for the rest of this week because I’m determined to have a more solid blogging presence throughout the month of August! Hold me accountable, followers, I need you!!

As for today’s post, I wanted to start a new Sunday series where I show off my bookshelves one shelf at a time to breakdown the books, memorabilia, and other knick knacks found within to give readers a better chance at getting to know the blogger behind the page. If y’all want to participate too, PLEASE link back to me so I can see your shelves and get to know you better!

Today’s post is going to be devoted to my bookshelves as a whole (since I just reorganized) but the following Sunday’s will provide a breakdown shelf by shelf. So without further ado, let’s dive in to the #SundayShelfie Tag!Screen Shot 2018-08-12 at 8.28.27 PM

BEFORE:

Screen Shot 2018-08-12 at 5.48.53 PMWhen I first converted one of our extra bedrooms into a library (thanks again, hubby!) I sorted my books by genre. I had shelves devoted to classics, thrillers, fantasy, series, books by same author, etc. You get it. And that worked for me until I started #Bookstagram. I soon discovered that I was often taking color-coordinated photos and destroying my library in the process. After debating for a bit — and receiving encouragement from some of my beloved blogging friends — I decided to make things easier on myself by changing how I organize my bookshelves.

AFTER:

Screen Shot 2018-08-12 at 5.37.31 PMTa-da! I decided instead of messing up several shelves, I could contain the chaos to one shelf if I chose to organize by color instead. Obviously it’s a drastically different look than before, but I think it turned out for the better. And while there’s no apparent order to the madness — beyond the color of the book’s spine, that is — I think most of us associate the books we love with their colors anyways so odds are I’ll be able to find books faster this way. *Here’s hoping!*

So that’s the big reveal! I do apologize to those that have seen this across ALL of my social media pages recently. You’re probably like: “Taylor, we get it!!” But for those that don’t follow my Twitter, Bookstagram, or Goodreads accounts (links below) I figured I had to display the mega change here and it’s a good launch to the new Sunday meme I’ll be participating in for the next few weeks!

What do y’all think? Do you prefer the before or after photo? How do you organize your shelves? What’s your rhyme & reason! Let me know below!

And, as always, Happy Reading!

Your new shelf layout looks soooo good! I can’t do the Sunday shelfie thing right now because I have so many overdue reviews to post that I’m actually posting 2 reviews every Sunday for the next 2-3 months (YIKES), but I’m bookmarking this for after I catch up so I can do it! I love the idea!
