Hey there, book nerds!!
I did it!!! I survived the week of never-ending social engagements! My throat is pretty sore, and I’m going to sleep well (and early) tonight, but beyond that I’m pretty solid! In other news…
…It’s the LAST WEEK OF OCTOBER, and I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve been seriously lacking the Halloween spirit this year! I don’t know if it’s because this is the first time in YEARS I haven’t had a costume party to attend (enjoy previous years examples surrounding this text), or if it’s because I’ve just been super swamped lately, but I’m not feeling it! I truly hope I get my act together in the next two days, and I’m thinking this tag is a step in the right direction!
I was tagged by the lovely Siobhan who’s new headers/blog decor are giving me life! Seriously, click that link to check them out yourself! Beyond her aesthetically pleasing blog, Sibby is constantly putting out fun tags, great reviews, and faithful weekly memes. Do yourselves a favor and give her page a gander!

Halloweentown: Where is your favorite place to go for Halloween or a place you want to go?
I really enjoy going to costume parties (as you can tell from the photos above), but if I could go anywhere during Halloween I think I’d like to try out Disney/Universal Studios. I think it would be so cool to see the special effects makeup/costumes walking around the park at Universal and then head over to Disney once I’ve reached my scaredy-cat quota!
Under Wraps: What’s something that used to be scary to you (like the mummy in this movie) that you realized isn’t actually that scary?
I’m sure there’s a better answer to this, but the very first thing that came to mind is the X-Files theme song! 🙉 I know, I know! Some of y’all are hardcore judging, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to how much this song used to terrify me as a kid. I had a TV in my room and I remember many nights being on the verge of sleep (way before the joys of Netflix) and hearing that song come on, which would create panic flailing in efforts to find the remote and change the channel and “secure my safety.” No song = safety. The comforts of childhood logic, y’all!
Tower of Terror: What is the scariest place you’ve ever been?
Beyond the obvious like clown-themed haunted houses (read: stuff of nightmares), the only spooky place coming to mind is a ghost tour I went on for my sister-in-law’s bachelorette party in Nashville. We stopped at several bars during the tour, but at one of the locations while the guide was describing the true-life hauntings and their source stories, I got full-body chills that wouldn’t go away until we left the building. Not a fan. Not. A. Fan.
Twitches: If you could be any supernatural creature, what would you be?
If this was back in ’06 I practically would have screamed the word vampire at you! But today, (like Sibby) I’d probably say a member of the Fae or a witch. I wouldn’t call witches creatures, but I love the idea of casting spells, sisterhood, rituals, etc. As for faeries, I like the charisma, beauty, and cleverness associated with the fae.
Don’t Look Under the Bed: Were you scared of monsters when you were a kid? When did it stop?
I don’t recall ever being afraid of monsters growing up! Spiders? Yes! Creepy dolls? Double yes! But monsters? Nope! I was always scared of real life problems/people, which remains true to this day. I remember my mom calling the school therapist (maybe nurse I was young lol) to check on me at school after a week of horrifying nightmares where I was convinced a grown man was after me.
Phantom of the Megaplex: Do you watch scary movies? If so, what is your favorite or the one you got most afraid of?
I shouldn’t because I regret it most of the time, but yes, I’m a sucker for scary movies as long as they don’t involve zombies. While I enjoy a good scare (Conjuring movies, The Strangers, etc), my favorite “scary movies” are the more meta ones: The Cabin in the Woods, You’re Next, Scream franchise. I find myself watching those again and again.
The Scream Team: Who would be on your dream team if you went on a ghost/supernatural creature hunt?
I didn’t have an answer for this so I asked my hubby and he told me he’d be “disappointed” if I said anything but the “Mystery Incorporated” team. 🤦🏽 But yeah, I don’t know who I’d say for this one…guess that means I’d be in trouble when the hunt begins!
Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire: Have you ever witnessed something/someone that could only be explained by the paranormal? If yes, what/who?
I’ve never experienced anything too over the top, but we do openly state that the house I grew up in is “haunted.” We just had too many things happen that we couldn’t find a reason/explanation for so we started blaming it on “the ghost.” Seriously, my parents, siblings, friends that have known me long enough all believe and acknowledge the presence of the ghost, but it’s never been too bad. Examples include: things falling over in rooms we aren’t in, ornaments falling off one at a time until all off from wreaths hung in the kitchen, the feeling that someone is crawling into bed with you, etc.
