Top Ten Tuesday #37
Happy Tuesday, book nerds!
Between voting tomorrow morning (get out there and vote, book lovers!) and being out all night at the Marissa Meyer meet and greet, I’m assuming I’m going to be pretty tired come Tuesday morning! So please send me some comments/votes (see below) to keep me energized throughout the day! I’ll be blogging about Marissa’s event soon, but it was a blast, y’all! She’s so high energy and entertaining and there were lifesize cutouts…so yeah, that’s pretty awesome!
As for today’s post, it’s time for this week’s TOP TEN TUESDAY entry!Hosted by Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl, this week’s topic is devoted to “Backlist Books I Want to Read.” Now y’all know it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t throw in a tiny twist or two! And between seasonal TBR lists and “books everyone’s read but me” posts most of my go-to selections are probably well-covered on this blog. So instead of just repeating my “Top Ten” list again, I decided to bust out an acronym/acrostic (ironically, it’s exactly TEN letters!) for MY BACKLIST and pick my top 3 backlist titles to represent each letter!! Savvy? Good! If not, you’ll get it as we go along! Without further ado, here’s M.Y. B.A.C.K.L.I.S.T. Reads

You made it through M.Y. B.A.C.K.L.I.S.T. reads! For each trio of books I’d LOVE to know which one you think I need to cross off my list sooner than later! Which titles are the ones I should be reading RIGHT NOW?? Right this moment!!! Have you read any of these backlist titles? Do we share any TBR books?? Is there a book starting with one of these letters that you think should have been included?? Let me know below!!

Haha yay! I might try to get to The Bear and the Nightingale in December (oooor I might save it for January? I just know I want to read it in the winter!) but everything else is super flexible.

Thanks for the recs, Darnell! I’ve heard wonderful things about both (thus making this list), but after meeting Laini I’m really excited to push Strange higher up the list! =D

Thank you so much! It’s a tiny bit nerdy, but I thought it was a fun way to help me pick some narrowed selections! Have you read any of these? Have one you think I should move to the top of the pile?

Great list! The Bear and the Nightingale and Strange the Dreamer are two of my favorites, they’re both such beautiful, magical stories. I hope you enjoy them! 😊

I’m making Bear a priority for the end of the year. I figured it’s a “winter read” so hopefully I get that done sooner than later!! Thanks so much for the advice and love! Happy reading!

1. You have to read A Million Junes asap. It’s brilliant. It’s my favorite book written in the last 2 years.
2. Legendary is also so good.
3. I would read anything by Jenn Bennett, so read all of her books if you haven’t yet, lol.

1) Holy cats! That’s some high praise! I’m going to have to seriously look into this!
2) I’m one of the rare few that actually really liked Caraval and almost everyone I know said this one is better so I really have no clue why I’m waiting.
3) I 5-Starred Alex, Approximately and Starry Eyes (I think I did at least) so I don’t know why I’m not reading this instead of typing this comment! haha!
Thank you so much for the votes! I appreciate it!

WOW what a great list, Taylor! I started This Mortal Coil last night and fell in love within the first 10 pages! Definitely recommend picking it up.

I saw that! I commented on your Twitter post because I was like UGH FOMO!! lol
Is it still FOMO if you have the book, but just aren’t reading it because you’re drowning in other backlist titles? Let’s assume yes! haha!

I love the way you always tweak your posts! It’s so creative and fun.
I have some of these on my neverending TBR, but you have to read Cinder and The Young Elites. Those series are two of my faves!
Happy Reading ♥

Thanks so much, K-Jo! I appreciate the feedback on the topic twists! I never know how they’ll land, so I thank you for sharing your approval! =D
I’m honestly pumped to dive into Cinder after the Marissa Meyer event so hopefully that’ll be sooner than later. As for Young Elites I feel like that’s a series I’ve NEVER HEARD ANYONE talking about! How is that possible? lol

Well, your creative twists on things never fail to inspire and amaze me =).
And, I honestly do not know WHY not a lot of people talk about the Young Elites. Marie Lu is one of my favorite authors and I don’t think her series gets the recognition they deserve. I always get so hooked on her books and find them very fascinating. The only series I haven’t read is Warcross, but that’s just because I want to binge it. =)

❤ ❤ ❤ You're too dang sweet! That seriously means the world to me so thank you! ❤ ❤ ❤
But for real, I don't get that one either. I feel like everyone lost their dang minds over the Warcross duology (and don't get me wrong I really enjoyed the first installment; haven't read the second one…yet!!).
And every once in awhile I hear people praise Legend trilogy. But I never ever hear mention of Young Elites. Did you read Legend too? Which series did you enjoy more? Both worth the time?

When I read the premise for Warcross, it seemed really interesting to me, but I wasn’t feeling it at the moment back then. Now that the sequel came out, I just have to be in the mood. LOL
I did read and love both the Legend and Young Elites. I think it was easier to read/finish The Legends. I was in that phase where I loved reading dystopian romance books. June and Day are one of my fave OTPs.
The Young Elites is a little darker and the characters are wayyyy more complex. I didn’t think I would enjoy/love it, but after reading the first book, I was addicted.
I would say I still like The Legends a bit more… like 3% more LOL. But, both series had me reading late into the night and crying like a baby by the end. I do cry very easily though. Those ads about adopting puppies/dogs make me tear up and cry.

Like 3% better! 😂😂
I’ll definitely have to look into both of these then! And girl SAME on the easy to cry thing. I sometimes tear up when they do the “inspirational backstory” packages on competition shows like The Voice/AI/etc. So yeah, I’ll probably be a goner too! lol

Haha. Well then I hope you have fun reading those too! Can’t wait to hear what you think. =)

You’re one of the first people I know that’s read You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone. I’ve seen wonderful reviews, but I feel like I never hear anyone praise it or talk about it so I’m glad you mentioned that one!!
Scythe, Strange, Cinder, and a Million Junes are getting the most recs/love so I’m going to try and get those priority spots in the next few weeks! If you want to BR any of the TBR titles you have on your list to keep us both accountable let me know! =D

Aw, thank you so much! I never know if the “twists” will turn out well received or not, so I do appreciate your feedback! Scythe and Cinder are getting rec after rec on here so I think it’s obvious those need to be moved to the tippy top of the list! =D

I love how you formatted your list this week! I also need to read so many on your list – I’m really looking forward to The Bear and the Nightingale. I didn’t much like The Secret History, but I hope you love it! I think I’m in the minority in disliking it! LOL! Happy reading!
