Holiday ADVENTure 2018: December 14

Afternoon, my lovely book nerds!!

HOLIDAY ADVENTURE REAL

By the time you’re reading this post, I should be deep in mall traffic trying to finalize my holiday shopping! I can’t even fathom how terribly crowded it’s going to be so I’m hoping going in with a game plan gets me in and out and back home to safety soon!

If you didn’t get to check out yesterday’s double posting PLEASE take a moment before you continue on to give Sol and Scrill some love, because those two deserve your time and attention!

For those new to my site who might be unfamiliar with my holiday-themed series, or have missed out on the previous posts, here’s a quick recap for you:

From Dec. 1 to Dec. 25, I’ll be highlighting one content creator that has made an impact in my bookish life. Each post will feature a mini bio on the day’s selected star, all of the links to their fabulous content, and a special holiday-themed glimpse into their lives.

Guys are you ready to see who’s behind door #14 on my Holiday ADVENTure?holly

It’s…

Karen Jo from Sincerely Karen Jo!

Screen Shot 2018-12-16 at 11.40.07 AMGuys, if you haven’t had the good fortune to meet this sweet and friendly blogger, let me breakdown why she’s one of my favorites in 2018!

KJo, as I loving call her, is someone I truly associate with joy. Beyond the fact that she’s always smiling BIG in her photos, her blog is full of romance and contemporary reads, a genre I typically associate with fuzzy feelings. Everything from the font and color selection on her page to the reviews themselves just seem warm and inviting. She’s someone I can always rely on when I’m looking for a good tearjerker, and she even inspired my very first read of the year…something I honestly never would have picked up if I hadn’t read about it on her site.

Born in the Philippines, this Cali native is the queen of blog tours, cover reveals, and heart-rated reviews. When she’s not blogging, fangirling at Disneyland, or rewatching Supernatural (for the sixth time), KJo can also be found on her floral-filled Booksta account or showing off photos of her cute newish puppers! Beyond her content, KJo’s resilience inspires me most. She lost a beloved grandparent earlier this year, which put her platforms on semi-hiatus. After just a few short weeks, she’s back posting more than ever and has one of the most positive attitudes of ANYONE I interact with online. If you haven’t had a moment to check out her pages, please give them some love below:

1) What is your favorite thing to do around the holidays/favorite holiday tradition?

I really LOVE watching Christmas movies like Elf and The Grinch and those cheesy Christmas romance movies on Hallmark and Netflix. They are sooo ridiculous sometimes, but such feel good movies. I also really like rewatching the Harry Potter and LOTR movies cause they usually came out during the holidays, so the fam and I always saw it and now I just like binging them or just having the movie play in the background while I cook, clean, and wrap presents. candy-line

2) What is your favorite holiday scent? Or favorite holiday movie if you don’t have a fave scent?

I don’t really have a favorite holiday scent. I’m very picky when it comes to scents, but I do like the smell of baked cookies or brownies. Anything that smells like yummy desserts. Not just during the holidays but all year round.candy-line

3) What is your favorite holiday drink or dish?

Too many… but I love baked ham A LOT and for dessert Filipino fruit salad. candy-line

4) What is your favorite holiday jam?

Well, if it’s the jam you put in bread, definitely strawberry, but if it’s music, my favorite holiday jam is “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.” That song just always makes me smile and puts me in a good mood.

*See, Sol, I told you you weren’t alone.*candy-line

5) What is the number 1 book you hope Santa/family friend brings you?

Hmm, this one is tough. Like, I don’t know how to choose just 1 cause there are so many books I want to get, but at the same time, I really can’t cause I’m running out of space. I actually wasn’t even thinking of asking for books. Boyfriend and the rest of the fam know I haven’t read more than half of my books and they’re seriously giving me a hard time about that. Not in a mean way or anything… more like in a lovingly we care about your book addiction kind of way. Haha. BUT, if I had to choose, I’ll go with Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas – Collector’s Edition. I haven’t read the series yet and I do have all the books (I think), but this edition is just so beautiful and I want it. candy-line

6) What is something you’re thankful for in 2018?

I’m thankful for another year of life to do what makes me happy and be with the people I love. It’s taken me a while to really appreciate what I have, but over the past few years I’ve come to realize that we really shouldn’t take anything for granted and to always tell the people we love that we love them even when we’re angry or don’t like time at the moment. You just never really know…Life is a gift and I think we all should try to make the best of the life we have in our own ways.  candy-line

7) What’s one of your goals for 2019?

One of my goals in 2019 is to finally get my driver’s license. It’s embarrassing, but I have failed the driving test many times. I can drive fine when I’m with my family and going places I know, but every time I take the test, my nerves get the best of me and I get so incredibly stressed and anxious that I literally shake and cannot drive like I normally do. So, I’m trying to push myself and keep trying and trying cause public transportation sucks sometimes. candy-lineScreen Shot 2018-12-16 at 12.04.29 PM
