Holiday ADVENTure 2018: December 18

Hello again, book nerds!

HOLIDAY ADVENTURE REAL

I’m currently writing this up between period breaks of the Stars game. The Dallas Stars play the Chicago Blackhawks tonight, which means my family is (temporarily) a family divided.

You see, I grew up in Chicago, which pretty much explains my hockey obsession. And when we moved to Texas, I converted to my local team while my dad and brother remain die hard Hawks fans. So every time our teams meet up there’s an added level of intensity. My brother and his friends are actually at the game tonight, and I’m watching with my hubby, mom, and dad from the comfort of their home while my father recovers from his second surgery.

But since I’m on a time crunch, enough about me. Let’s chat tonight’s talented creator!! Before we do, here’s a quick explanation of my holiday-themed series for my new-to-me followers:

From Dec. 1 to Dec. 25, I’ll be highlighting one content creator that has made an impact in my bookish life. Each post will feature a mini bio on the day’s selected star, all of the links to their fabulous content, and a special holiday-themed glimpse into their lives.

Who’s hiding behind door #18 on my Holiday ADVENTure?

*I sincerely apologize for whatever this nonsense door is! I went through a holiday generator and that’s all they had for 18…smdh…*

It’s…

Shanah from Bionic Book Worm!

Screen Shot 2018-12-20 at 9.13.50 PMNot only are we staying in Canada for today’s second round of my #HolidayADVENTure, but we’re also staying in the family. That’s right this creative Ravenclaw is none other than the cousin of today’s earlier reveal, Joe! A fun fact I honestly didn’t know until a month or so ago 🤣

Connections aside this bookish mama more than earned her individual spot! Not only is she recognized as one of the top 30 book bloggers to follow in Canada, but we’ve also got tons in common!! Way back when I first started my blog, I discovered Shanah had not only married her high school sweetheart too, but she could also shoot Jäger like the best of them, and owned her own business as well! While these are extra specific shared facts, it was one of the first times I felt like I’d made a REAL connection in the bookish community. Screen Shot 2018-12-20 at 11.58.18 PMAnd as I’m sure you all know that’s a major blogging milestone you simply don’t forget.

Beyond our similarities, this kind soul is also one of the most creative creators I’ve encountered in my blogging adventures. From her Bookstagram account, which features glimpses of her colorful — and eye-catching — planner to her popular weekly meme, Shanah’s able to capture your attention — and keep it — regardless of the platform. The meme I mentioned? It’s the beloved Top 5 Tuesday meme of which she is the host and creator! If you’re looking for a new book buddy to inspire you and guide you, check out Shanah’s pages below:

1) What is your favorite thing to do around the holidays/favorite holiday tradition?

My favourite thing about the holidays is Boxing Day (the day after Christmas). We spend the day relaxing, eating junk food, and playing with everything the kids got for Christmas. It’s just a relaxing day of playing!

2) What is your favorite holiday scent? Or favorite holiday movie if you don’t have a fave scent?

My favourite holiday scent is cranberry. Not sure why lol. It seems to be the only time places get cranberry-scented candles so I bulk up!candy-line

3) What is your favorite holiday drink or dish?

Screen Shot 2018-12-20 at 9.49.13 PMMy favourite holiday dish is sugar cookies!

I know you can get them year round, but they just taste better at Christmas. 😂 Also anything peppermint!!! If everything tasted like a candy cane I would be fine with that! candy-line

4) What is your favorite holiday jam?

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey. I remember my mom blasting that every Christmas and I would dance like a fool!

5) What is the number 1 book you hope Santa/family friend brings you?

Seriously??

You’re making me choose one?! It’s like forcing me to choose a favourite child! Lol.

Ok then, I will go with Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. candy-line

6) What is something you’re thankful for in 2018?

The thing that I’m most thankful for in 2018 is my blogging friends. It might sound cheesy, but it’s true!!! You have all made me feel like I’ve found my place in the world. People who understand my passion and know what it’s like to live through books. The book blogging community is so kind and welcoming, and I’ve found some AMAZING new friends through the blog! Lots of conversations and excitement, and people that just “get” me!candy-line

7) What’s one of your goals for 2019?

Hmmmmm goals for 2019? This is a hard one! I had such a huge goal of reaching 100 books this year, I can honestly say that the pressure became too much towards the end of the year. I haven’t thought of my goals for 2019, but I think that my goal might be to read more adult fantasy and science fiction. They’re becoming a quick favourite, and they’re also usually HUGE in size. So I might say that I would like to read less but enjoy more. Does that make sense? I hope so! 😂 candy-lineScreen Shot 2018-12-20 at 10.10.53 PM

candy-lineWell that officially marks the latest #HolidayADVENTure post yet! I’d like to thank hockey shenanigans, holiday gifts, and my parents for delaying this post, which was technically done, but not published until now! Whether you’re reading this now, before 9 am or noonish tomorrow I hope you enjoyed getting to meet Shanah and learning how she celebrates the holidays in Canada! Happy holidays and happy reading!
