Top Ten Tuesday #48
Happy Tuesday, Book Nerds!
No, your eyes have not deceived you. I, Taylor of Nerd Narration, am actually participating in Top Ten Tuesday this week!! Crazy, right?? It’s been MONTHS since my last TTT post, but I’m finally diving back in, and I couldn’t be more excited. Hosted by Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl, this week’s topic is “Most Anticipated Book Releases for the First Half of 2020.” And shockingly, I’m ACTUALLY participating in this week’s suggested prompt! Wild, I know!
There are a shockingly large amount of books I’m hyped for this year so to make my decision a little easier I’m only listing titles I don’t currently possess. Basically, I didn’t select any of the arcs I’m blessed to have copies of because they’ll be showing up on my blog via reviews, TBRs, and wrap ups. This way I can spread the word on another group of books I’m excited to read between now and June!
Everybody ready? Scroll on down to check out my: Top Ten Most Anticipated Reads For The First Half of 2020!
1) This Vicious Cure by Emily Suvada
Releases: 01/21/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.85 ★ Number of Ratings: 27
One reason to read? It’s the concluding novel to one of my all-time favorite science fiction series. It’s the final chapter in the trilogy that brought This Mortal Squad together. And if that’s truly not enough read it because Emily Suvada is a badass that goes above and beyond for her readers.
2) House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1) by Sarah J. Maas
Releases: 03/03/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.40 ★ Number of Ratings: 564
One reason to read? Because that’s the best dang SJM cover we’ve ever seen. #FactsOnly Jokes aside, I’m intrigued af to read the romance scenes Maas is going to unleash in her first “non ya” title.
3) Wild at Heart by K.A. Tucker
Releases: 03/03/20 ★ Current Rating: 3.94 ★ Number of Ratings: 18
One reason to read? The Simple Wild (book 1) was one of my favorite reads of 2018 and I, personally, cannot wait to get some more scenes devoted to my favorite Viking sky cowboy.
4) Time of Our Lives by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
Releases: 04/21/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.37 ★ Number of Ratings: 43
One reason to read? This made my list purely because of the married duo’s previous novels. Both of which were modern-day Shakespeare retellings that I absolutely adored. And while this novel is breaking away from that mold, I’m confident (given their track record) that I’ll love this emotional coming-of-age tale.
5) The Betrothed by Kiera Cass
Releases: 05/05/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.18 ★ Number of Ratings: 66
One reason to read? I know a lot of people are calling this book a blatant Selection rewrite, but guess what? I really enjoyed The Selection series. I devoured that trilogy in 24 hours so as far as I’m concerned this is the book for me. As long as it’s nothing like Eadlyn’s follow up books…
6) The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
Releases: 05/19/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.07 ★ Number of Ratings: 6,286
One reason to read? Because it’s the MF Hunger Games, y’all. *Insert “volunteering as tribute” joke when/if arcs become available*
7) Fence: Rivals by C.S. Pacat & Illustrated by Johanna the Mad
Releases: 05/19/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.44 ★ Number of Ratings: 9
One reason to read? This series was my first foray into the graphic novel world and I still thank my lucky stars for the blessings. I’m in love with the diverse fencing team of Kings Row and need this next installment pronto.
8) The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant
Releases: 06/02/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.18 ★ Number of Ratings: 79
One reason to read? A fantasy retelling of Les Mis? Les Freaking Mis!! I know I’m not “On My Own” when I say seeing: “for anyone who knows that Eponine deserved so much more,” on the Goodreads profile page got me all in my feels.
9) I Killed Zoe Spanos by Kit Frick
Releases: 06/02/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.50 ★ Number of Ratings: 20
One reason to read? When early reviews consistently comment on how smart, unique, creative, and inventive a Sadie-esque novel is, odds are, I’m immediately hunting the novel down. And I think it took me all of 60 seconds before I was penning an impassioned plea to the folks at Edelweiss for an advanced copy of this YA thriller.
10) Take A Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
Releases: 06/23/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.38 ★ Number of Ratings: 8
One reason to read? After falling hard for Chloe’s story late last year, I knew my list wouldn’t be complete without this companion novel. A fake-dating synopsis giving off strong Picture Perfect vibes, but with a way more interesting cast? Sign me up. Sign me up, today!
This Vicious Cure is definitely on my list – I’m such a fan of the series.

Yay another Suvada fan! As you can see from the link in my description, we formed a whole book gang out of our love for the series #noregrets lol! I hope we both enjoy it when it drops!

YASSS to more of our favorite Viking sky cowboy!!! * heart eyes* we are definitely not good for each others TBR’s btw, Yes I did send a request via Edelweiss just now for I KILLED ZOE SPANOS smh…#noregrets but also I don’t have high hopes causes Simon is a toughie to crack lol. I’ve never read anything by Jen Bennett but that cover for Chasing Lucky legit gives me *heart eyes* every time we cross paths. I think it’s safe to say we have our work cut out for us in 2020 haha! but seriously, I could use a buddy read partner 🙂
Love you! ❤

lol thanks. In my defense … I’m the one at my library whose job it is to recommend MG and YA books to buy, so I’ve spent a lot of time looking through 2020 releases. I’ve had the chance to develop a long list of books to look forward to. xD

Totally with you! Good or bad I’ll be reading House because the intrigue is just too high! And I’m always going to stan anything related to Les Mis so I’m very happy people are getting hyped for Court.
