Hey there, book nerds!
Can you believe we’re already on ROUND 6 of Contemporary-A-Thon?? As I sit here watching The Oscars with my hubby (read: Holy Cats, Parasite 🙌), I can’t help but freak out a little about how fast time is moving. It’s clichéd, but time truly seems to move faster and faster every year. But if I sit here and analyze that for too long I’ll freak out, so let’s just dive into today’s post shall we? Although I haven’t participated in every round thus far, I have really enjoyed this contemporary-themed readathon in the past. Hosted by Chelsea (Chelseadolling reads), Julie (Pages and Pens), and Natasha (Myreadingisodd) round 6 takes place from today (Monday Feb. 10) through Sunday (Feb. 16) and consists of 7 challenges. I don’t know if I’ll actually read #7in7, but I listed 7 books I’d love to cross of my list sooner than later that fit these prompts. Wish me luck, y’all! And happy reading to those participating!
1) Read a contemporary book with green on the cover.
The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Released: 06/13/17 ★ Current Rating: 4.32 ★ Page Count: 391
Primary Reason To Read: Because it’s been on my TBR for too dang long. Because everyone in the community adores this — even more than Daisy Jones. And because I’m running out of excuses for why I haven’t read this yet.
2) Read a contemporary from a new-to-you author.
If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane
Released: 03/24/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.14 ★ Page Count: 432
Primary Reason To Read: Because I’ve been hyped for this fauxmance since I discovered it and insta-requested the eARC. Plus, reading it a month before my review is due would be a nice change of pace for me. 😂
3) Read a diverse contemporary.
The Girl With The Louding Voice by Abi Daré
Released: 02/04/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.60 ★ Page Count: 384
Primary Reason To Read: Because some trusted Bookstagrammers piqued my interest in this debut, but BOTM making it a Feb. pick solidified this selection.
4) Read a backlist contemporary that has been on your TBR for more than a year.
The Field Guide To The North American Teenager by Ben Philippe
Released: 01/08/19 ★ Current Rating: 3.80 ★ Page Count: 384
Primary Reason To Read: Because a contemporary based in Texas with a hockey subplot seems right up my alley, y’all.
5) Read a dark/hard-hitting contemporary.
Foul Is Fair by Hannah Capin
Released: 02/18/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.04 ★ Page Count: 336
Primary Reason To Read: Because my tour post for this vengeance-filled novel is due the day after Contemporary-A-Thon ends. So this seems like ideal timing, no?
6) Read a contemporary with an illustrated cover.
Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales
Released: 03/03/20 ★ Current Rating: 4.22 ★ Page Count: 288
Primary Reason To Read: Because let’s be real any book that has a blurb that mentions Clueless, Grease, and Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda seems like it should automatically be added to a Contemporary-A-Thon list.
7) Read a contemporary that is beloved by a member of the book community.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Released: 09/20/11 ★ Current Rating: 4.34 ★ Page Count: 378
Primary Reason To Read: Because just like Seven Hubbies it’s been on my TBR for an unacceptable amount of time. Because I can think of 20+ members of the community off the top of my head that would consider this mythological tale as beloved. And because (again) I’m out of excuses for why this is still on my TBR.
Okay y’all, that’s it! It’s a mighty TBR for the week, but I’m hoping I get a few of these titans crossed off my list. Wish me luck and let me know below which of these books sounds the most interesting to you! Where should I start? What is a MUST read?
AND, AS ALWAYS: HAPPY READING!

I’m definitely in the minority on this one, but Evelyn Hugo didn’t blow me away. I just didn’t connect with any of the characters. But I hope you love it! Good luck with your read-a-thon. 🙂

No, I’m a slow reader. I’m lucky if I can get through 2 books in one week. 😍

Woot woot! I did it last time and managed to somehow actually get 5 of 7 read. That will NOT be happening this time around, but I’m still optimistic that this will boost my Feb. reads.
