Top Ten Tuesday #55
Hey there, book nerds!
I planned on writing about my hockey team’s victory in today’s intro, but alas my Stars fell a goal short last night. πAlthough the loss sucks, I have full faith in my team and I’m ready to cheer loud come game 3.
Beyond hockey news, I’ve managed to finish 3 books in the past 3 days (heavy reading went down over the weekend π), and it’s safe to assume that when I’m not reading I’m 100 percent jamming out to Julie and the Phantoms tracks. If you haven’t watched it on Netflix yet, do yourself a favor and dive in. Tell your friends. π
But enough about me! Let’s dive into another round of TOP TEN TUESDAY!
Hosted by Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl, this week’s topic is “Books On My Fall 2020 TBR.” This is one of my favorite prompts of the season, and I can’t wait to see what y’all have selected for your Autumn TBRs!
To add a tiny twist to my take on this week’s topic, I’ll be choosing my picks from books that will be published in the fall (Sept. – Dec.) of 2020. With so many incredible books on the horizon it was tough to narrow down my list, but I did it, and I’m hoping I get all these read before 2021!!
Check out the Top Ten Books FALLing Into My Autumn 2020 TBR!
1) None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney
Released: 09/01/20 π Current Rating: 4.28 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 199
One Reason To Read: A chilling psychological thriller that pairs a teenager who survived a murder attempt with the FBI to hunt down an active serial killer. It’s been compared to Sadie, The Silence of the Lambs, and Mindhunter. So yeah, I’ll be reading this one.
2) The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Released: 09/01/20 π Current Rating: 4.26 Stars πNo. Of Ratings: 1,537
One Reason To Read: Please see prompt number 4.
3) Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson
Released: 09/15/20 π Current Rating: 4.50 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 860
One Reason To Read: I’m still not over Jackson’s debut, and I’ve learned that she’s an author that can deliver raw and realistic stories that leave me reeling. Seemingly inspired by R. Kelly, this contemporary thriller is bound to linger long after the final page is read.
4) Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
Released: 09/15/20 π Current Rating: 4.62 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 594
One Reason To Read: Centered on a collegiate, demon-hunting secret society with a lineage dating back to King Arthur’s knights, this fantasy retelling promises the magic I’m looking for in my Fall TBR.
5) Dear Justyce by Nic Stone
Released: 09/29/20 π Current Rating: 4.65 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 382
One Reason To Read: It’s the sequel/companion novel to Stone’s phenomenal Dear Martin. I don’t need to know a single additional fact. This will be a priority on my TBR for sure.
6) Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco
Released: 10/27/20 π Current Rating: 4.37 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 216
One Reason To Read: Murder, vengeance, and romance are all written in bold in this YA fantasy’s synopsis. I don’t know what that says about me, but that’s going to get my attention 10 out of 10 times.
7) Lyrics & Curses by Candace Robinson
Released: 11/10/20 π Current Rating: 4.56 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 42
One Reason To Read: Is any Taylor TBR complete without at least one title that pertains to music? No, the answer is no. And thus when I stumbled across this paranormal title earlier this week it seemed like a no brainer to add it to this list.
8) Those Who Prey by Jennifer Moffett
Released: 11/10/20 π Current Rating: 4.43 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 28
One Reason To Read: Remember that time in college you joined a cool on-campus group that turned out to be a cult? Thankfully this wasn’t my experience, but apparently it’s what goes down in this promising thriller.
9) These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
Released: 11/17/20 π Current Rating: 4.28 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 260
One Reason To Read: This historical fiction novel is being pitched as a Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai. That means we get feuding families in flapper-era China. Is any other reason needed??
10) How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black
Released: 11/24/20 π Current Rating: 4.56 Stars π No. Of Ratings: 147
One Reason To Read: Obvious reason is obvious.
Okay, y’all! Those are the books that made the cut. I’m eager to see if any of these were added to your list because of this post or if we shared any of these anticipated releases. Let me know below!
AND, AS ALWAYS: HAPPY READING!
